AMaGA award winner 2021

Her Place exhibition UNMASKED receives an AMaGA award

Her Place Women’s museum has been awarded an Australian Museums and Galleries Association award for our exhibition Unmasked.

The awards recognise outstanding achievements and service in the museum, gallery, and collecting sector.

Unmasked began as a special exhibition to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife in 2020. COVID-19 saw us not only shift the exhibition dates but it presented an opportunity to think differently about the exhibition.

The unfolding events of 2020 and 2021 were woven into the exhibition, giving us a chance to highlight the extraordinary and courageous work of nurses and midwives both past and currently. The pandemic has reminded us just how much we rely on the expertise of nurses and midwives.

A huge thank you to Australian Museums and Galleries Association for this award, as well as Madonna Grehan, Professor Odette Best, Department of Human Services, Safer Care Victoria and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Federation (Vic Branch).
